Champagne and sanding

Sabrage

“A gesture of war turned into a gesture of joy by the grace of a wine! And what other wine could accomplish this feat better than Champagne, whose birth and image are nothing but perpetual contradictions? And so, in a final metamorphosis by the grace of this slightly magical champagne wine, the weapon, instead of imposing order, liberates celebration”.

Prince Alain de Polignac

The Art of Sandblasting

1

Undress

the cap of its golden paper

2

Remove

carefully remove the wirehood from the cap

3

Locate

under your index finger the seam of the bottle. Discover this seam by pulling apart the gold paper that covers the collar by about 2 cm.

4

Hold the bottle firmly

at arm's length, collar up. Lay the saber thread flat on the seam

5

Without violence, slide the dish

of your sabre along the seam, accompanying the cork's flight with a broad gesture.

6

The neck is cut cleanly

and the champagne is ready to be enjoyed with the elegance and poise of a true ceremony.
